America Is Lost: Rigged election, Rigged Media, Rigged Candidate says Assange

October 21, 2016

To paraphrase Mark Twain, reports of Julian Assange’s death were greatly exaggerated. After his web feed was cut by staff at the Ecuadorian Embassy earlier this week Assange’s usual stream of tweets, leaks and posts was stilled. The web, being the web, went mad with conspiracy theories but Wikileaks themselves did not comment on the wilder speculation.

Well Julian is back on Hilary’s case, and this time it’s more personal than ever.

After consistently leaking damaging internal information from both the Democratic National Committee and the Hillary Clinton campaign on an almost daily basis for months, much of which provides evidence of criminal behavior sufficient to trigger a police investigation were anybody but a member of the Washington ‘liberal’ (née neocon) elite the chief suspect, but seemingly has no impact on the Mrs Clinton’s ratings in the polls, Julian Assange has concluded that “There is no US election. There is power consolidation. Rigged primary,
rigged media and rigged ‘pied piper’ candidate drive consolidation.

Another way of looking at it is that Mrs. Clinton’s continued involvement in the election race shows that to her supporters the fact that Hillary Clinton has a vagina (allegedly) is more important that evidence of her many crimes ranging from high treason to cheating Bernie Sanders out of the nomination, this blog can’t understand why the candidate’s genitals should be a factor in the election. After all, in every election from 1988, Americans have voted to put a cunt in The White House.

It is difficult to disagree with Assange’s assessment (or ours for that matter).  That an establishment candidate, the ultimate Washington insider, running for The Democratic Party which claims it supports poor people and minorities, can still be in the race after an extended FBI investigation into a security scandal involving handling classified material on an unsecured private network that concluded multiple federal laws were clearly and intentionally broken by Mrs Clinton and her staff,  and clear evidence that the decision not to prosecute was influenced by the intervention of President Barack Hussein Obama in what amounted to a gross abuse of power, is astounding. Equally astounding is that evidence of  collusion between the Clinton Foundation and the State Department during the time Hillary Clinton was Secretary has not warranted an investigation.  Throw in evidence from WikiLeaks clearly linking the DNC to criminal efforts to incite violence at rallies, electoral fraud during the Democratic Party primaries, contravention of electoral rules in accepting donations from foreign governments, blatant media collusion, etc, etc, and it actually becomes clear that The Obama Administration and the Democratic party (heavily influenced by the Clinton’s have introduced levels of corruption normally found in third world failed states into the political system of the USA.

And, while no amount of corruption or scandal seems to sway an American electorate that is intent upon throwing the country off a cliff, Assange has promised a “surprise” for Tim Kaine and the Democrats’ “persecuted christian woman”, Donna Brazile who assumed the role of chair of the Democratic National Committee (as a thanks for helping Hillary stab Bernie Sanders in the back?) after her predecessor was made the patsy for Hillary’s email treason.Let’s hope that finally wakes up mainstream media to tell the truth about the election being rigged in favour of the Wall Street / Corporate / Military – Industrial complex candidate.

The real irony is that Hillary Clinton represents all of that which the ‘liberals’ of the ‘progressive left’ claim they hate most, yet still they support her because her vagina blinds them to the (not fit for purpose) quality of her character, just as eight years ago the colour of Obama’s skin blinded mostly the same people to the fact that he was a plant who in office would be a neocon puppet.

We’ve been chronicling the downfall of Hillary Clinton, from her seemingly unassailable position as the anointed successor to Barack Obama, whose path to first the Democratic Party nomination and then the Presidency itself had been carefully planned and all obstacles removed. Polish Government Policy To Suppress Discussion Of Holocaust

May 5, 2016

by Ian R Thorpe
This blog does not get many readers, it was never intended to the reason for keeping it going is to do with Search Engine Optimisation for other blogs. So not many people will have seen our previous post about a German historian questioning the official narrative on the Holocaust. Those who did however, might have wondered why we would post such a thing.

As the founder of the blog I will explain that neither I nor my colleagues question the fact that very bad things happened to members of Jewish communities in Germany and central Europe between 1933 and 1945. We all, have a questioning nature and did not believe (or disbelieve) the details but broadly the story stood up to examination.

Then it became fashionable among political activists to call for ‘Holocaust Denial’, the opinions of people who claimed the story of mass exterminations, was not true to be criminalised. And that made us suspicious because we all believe in free speech. Only fascist regimes try to suppress open debate, and as far as all of us are concerned, because in the medieval era we would have been executed for our rejection of God, Jesus and the Church, we defend the right of people to question r reject something the authorities insist we accept is true. It is also no different to criminalising ‘climate change denial’, opposition to mass immigration, the introduction of Genetically Modified food crops or globalisation.

Criminalising ideas is the territory of tyrants, and as it becomes more obvious that the ruling elites are moving towards establishing a global totalitarian government, is it any wonder more people, if not exactly questioning The Holocaust, are questioning the eagerness to suppress free discussion of an event which has shaped much of the political evolution in the free world since 1945.

And since we started to question, it is clear there are a number of gaping holes in the Holocaust narrative, which apparently nobody wants to try to explain. Here’s another:

New Polish historical policy could silence Holocaust debates

WARSAW, Poland (via Associated Press) — Poland’s governing party is seeking to shape the country’s future by controlling perceptions of the past.

The conservative Law and Justice party’s strategy includes the use of museums, film, public television and other tools to promote certain episodes in Poland’s history, like the anti-communist resistance after World War II. More controversial, though, are attempts to suppress discussion and research into painful topics, primarily Polish violence against Jews during the Nazi occupation.

Law and Justice, which since last year has wielded more power than any party in post-communist times, sees the moves as harnessing history in a mission to build a stronger nation state. President Andrzej Duda said the nation’s new “historical policy offensive” aims to create a new generation of patriots and “to build up the country’s position in the international space.”

Critics see historical revisionism that will produce little beyond national self-righteousness and will prevent an honest reckoning with the country’s wartime history — an extremely complex story that includes suffering and heroism of the highest order but also cases of murder and betrayal by Poles of defenseless Jews.

EU exploiting Mediterranen boat crisis to further political agenda

May 3, 2015

The unelected bureaucrats who run EU stand accused of cynically exploiting the Mediterranean boat people crisis to further it’s European integration program that will result in the national sovereignty of 28 ~(and growing) member states being abolished as they are amalgamated into a single federal superstate.

Although Britain has deployed naval forces to assist in a rescue operation, France and Italy are blocking the mission until Britain agrees to take in thousands of migrants.. This kind of blackmail is typical of the smooth faced bureaucrats who run Europe, in effect they are saying “If you want to offer humanitarian aid you do it on our terms and flood your country with unskilled, illiterate economic migrants (NB not refugees, migrants).”

Last month Britain deployed HMS Bulwark, the Royal Navy’s flagship, and the frigate HMS Kent to assist in operations designed to smash the smuggling rings currently shipping migrants into Europe. Obviously the Euronazis of Brussels do not want to stop the ruthless criminals who are flooding the European continent with migrants. Would we put it past these self serving shits to have done some kind of deal with with the criminals? No we wouldn’t, they’re the type of people who would pimp out their daughters to further their political aims. READ MORE at The Daily Stirrer

I guess what’s really behind this is Merkel and Hollande are pissed off because Dave got his announcement in before they had time to call another summit of leaders, so they could stuff themselves stupid at our expense while they sat around waiting for Obama to call and tell them what to do.

Cameron’s acting independently would be totally unacceptable to the Eurocrats of course, – who does this man think he is FFS? The leader of an independent nation or something?

Today We Should Pray For The Lefties

July 15, 2014

Yes today the left of British politics have suffered a crushing bow. Education Minister Michael Gove has lost his job in Cameron’s reshuffle. As Gove was the primary target for the left’s irrational hatred and without irrational hatred the left have nothing in their weaponry, this is a massive setback with an election only a year away.

Other news from the cabinet reshuffle. Ken Clarke is gone. I put on the radio this morning to catch the 8:30 news bulletin and all I could hear was the sound of a pair of hush puppies slapping against the pavement as a portly septugenarian clutching an airline ticket for Cambodia ran for Heathrow, pursued by The Hounds Of The Morrigan*

Environment Secretary Owen fracking Paterson has been sacked after encouraging councils to ride roughshod over the democratic process in granting fracking permits to companies in which his family members have an interest.

Liz Truss has been promoted, presumably to give Cameron or Osborne some support. Esther McVeigh who I am aware of only because before she went into politics I once saw her cavorting about on a celebrity game show, filling a very tight pair of leather trousers perfectly. So what will she do in government? Do we need a minister for pert bottoms? I’d say yes we do, although I’d prefer the job to have gone to Cheryl Cole.

Big surprise is the departure of William Hague. Was her really so deeply hurt when Boggart Blog said he looked like The Mekon in the Eagle / Dan Dare comic strips? Or is he jumping ship before the next batch of sexual misdemeanours come to light?

One amateur pundit rather unworthily suggested all this reshuffle proves is that having a pair of tits is now the best qualification for a top job. If that were true surely Katy Price would have been made Chancellor of The Exchequer. Sorry, what am I thinking, Ms. Price has shown a great deal of business acumen and proved her ability to manage money, she’s massively overqualified for the position. Sadly then George (Gideon) Osborne remains chancellor.

Kevin Brennan, Labour’s Shadow schools minister says that following the reshuffle every minister in the Department of Education was privately educated . Oh well, at least we can be sure they’ll all be able to read and write.

As someone who has often complained about the mealy – mouthed, politically correct equivocation of modern politics I have to celebrate the elevation of Claire Perry MP, the former City trader who led the Government’s campaign for filters on online pornography. Perry is said to have walked into a Commons tea room and asked the assembled stuffed shirts (the regular guys would be in the members bar): “What do I have to do to speak, give the Speaker a blow job?”

Ms. Perry must be in good physical shape if the thinks she could bend low enough to do that to Tyrion Bercow.

So Who Do You Pick To Investigate Elitist Paedophile Rings

July 9, 2014

The appointment of Lady Butler-Sloss as chair of the VIP paedophile inquiry is another prime example of why we should be asking very difficult questions about our political system in this country, the way the elite carve everything up and when faced with criticism close ranks and engineer a cover up, and most of all, why we have three main political parties who are all as abolutely corrupt and incompetent as each other.

Most of the criticism of Lady Butler-Sloss (nee Havers, yes shes the auntie of actor Nigel Havers, but worse, the sister of his dear Old Dad, the late Sir Michael Havers who, purely by coincidence and flyingpigology was Attorney General to Margaret Thatcher’s government at the time Geoffery Dickens Parliamentary Paedos dossier went missing).

Some critics however have focused on the fact Lady Butler-Sloss sits in the House Of Lords and may have to criticise her fellow peers in the inquiry. History ancient and recent proves that members of the House Of Lords are almost incapable of uttering a word against their collegues even when allegations of crimes as heinous as drinking white wine with red meat, showing a more than passing interest in the football results and being unkind to horses are involved.

The most worrying aspect is the little mentioned fact that Butler-Sloss will most certainly have to investigate a close, if dead, member of her own family, the aforementioned late Sir Michael. Havers also happenens to be one of the establishment figures alleged to have argued for the protection of the identities of VIPs accused of child abuse.

But don’t just take my word for it. From The Daily Mail’s report (OK lefties calm down, not everything in The Mail is made up)

establishment paedophiles

But it was also Butler-Sloss’s brother Sir Michael Havers who during his tenure as Attorney General upheld the decision not to prosecute the VIP paedophile Sir Peter Hayman in 1981. And in 1983, Havers was accused by the Sun Newspaper of withholding information about a convicted paedophile’s membership of the Paedophile Information Exchange during his trial “to avoid embarrassing security chiefs”. According to The Currant Bun:

establishment paedophiles 2

You know something readers, if I was a more cynical sort of person I’d say you could be forgiven for thinking that the big investigation into the Parliamentary Paedophile cover up that our political leaders made such a song and dance about is starting to look like ….. how can I put this …. yet another cover up.

Ukraine Crisis: Putin Signs Treaty Making Crimea Part Of Russia – EU / US alliance Says Boo!

March 18, 2014

Putin makes Crimea part of Russia as US vice president heads to Poland to send a signal to Russia

puting-eu-threats
I know I’ve used it before but it seemed so apt. Source: zerohedge

The Main story today was the speedy acceptance by Russia of newly independent Crimea’s request to join the Russian Federation. Interesting to see western journalists and political pundits getting their knickers in a twist over this one.

Another headline yesterday screamed “Crimean independence cannot be justified, Crimea is not like Kosovo and the independence vote is illegal.

Now how does Crimea’s demand for independence from Ukraine differ from Kosovo’s split from Serbia in the 1990s in any way other than that the Crimeans, guaranteed protection from Ukrainian reprisals by Russia went down the civilized (well civilisedish) route of holding a democratic vote while the Kosovars, guaranteed protection from Serbian reprisals by western bombers went down the uncivilized route of slaughtering ethnic Serbs living within the area they claimed. There’s no consistency in saying that the secession of Kosovo was fair and the secession of Crimea is unfair.

Apart from that fine example of Orwellian doublethink (cognitive dissonance on a national scale), the west seems more pissed off with Russia for failing to be intimidated by the empty threats of the limp dicked Rent Boy President. In fact the Russian leader Vladimir Putin has repeatedly responded with the political equivalent of rude gestures to the bluster of the USA and EU leaders.

The main thrust of responses from The Chatterati seems to go, “Ho ho, that Putin had better watch himself, if he doesn’t fall into line behind The Obamessiah soon her could find himself isolated in the international community. The art of international diplomacy is to understand what effect a given action, by the first party, will have on the actions of a third party. If you build something threatening on another nation’s border then you have to understand that nation will take steps to do something about it.

It is not difficult to find and read historical accounts of Russia’s centuries old obsession with its own security before criticising the present, transitory, regime or suggesting that threats of isolation will bring them into line with the “international community” (which seems to be breaking apart rapidly). And in the end, whatever anyone thinks of Russia’s actions it must be acknowledged the root cause of the trouble in Ukraine was the EU / USA sponsoring extremist groups with the intent of toppling a democratically elected government and putting in it’s place a west – friendly puppet government.

I’m always gobsmacked by the historical ignorance of lefties. Russia has always been isolated, that’s the way they like it. So what can the west do? Here’s the most ludicrous response so far:

Times of Malta:

Leaders of the Group of Eight world powers have suspended Russia’s participation in the club amid tensions over Ukraine and Russia’s incursion into Crimea, France’s foreign minister said today.

The other seven members of the group had already suspended preparations for a G8 summit that Russia is scheduled to host in Sochi in June.

France’s Laurent Fabius went further today, saying on Europe-1 radio that “concerning the G8… we decided to suspend Russia’s participation, and it is envisaged that all the other countries, the seven leading countries, will unite without Russia”.

He did not give further details.

The US and European Union today announced new sanctions against Russia over its actions in the Crimean Peninsula.

What planet are these people living in? There was a referendum held in which the people of Crimea voted to leave Ukraine.  And to those who say that the referendum was illegal, may I remind them that so is a mob toppling the elected government of Ukraine and forcing its president into exile. So is a bombing campaign by the FUKUS axis to topple the nasty but internationally recognized regime in Libya. So is the supply of arms to enable a bunch of human organ noshing religious fanatics to wage civil war in Syria against a regime that while thoroughly distasteful to the west had the support of more that half of Syrians As for the G8, kicking Russia out will just cause Moscow to cooperate more closely with the other BRICs, thus causing further polarization of developed and developing countries on key global issues.

Once the west sets a precedent for flouting the United Nations charter by meddling in the domestic politics of sovereign nations in the service of its own interests is not hypocritical to claim the moral high ground when condemning others for doing the same. And don’t let the pathetic wailing and gnashing of teeth from those lefties who whine “but we intervened on humanitarian grounds, we supported doing what is right,” fool you. How is it “right” to overthrow a tyrant who has people shot in private and replace his government with theocrats who hack opponents heads off with blunt knives in public and then disembowel the corpse and eat the still warm vital organs, afterwards posing with smiles all round for the people videoing the atrocity to be posted on You Tube.

We should also have no time for the people accusing Putin of not playing fair in threatening to respond to sanctions by cutting off Europe’s gas supply. It ought always to have been obvious (and was to everyone except the political leaders of the EU) that Western Europe should never have become reliant on Russia for gas supplies; even Germany is now publicly regretting the day the decided to rely on imported Russian gas. The CDU party in the German ruling coalition are advocating buying UK gas which is something of a forlorn hope as we hardly have enough for ourselves.

The attempt to impose a government in Kiev that would have taken Ukraine into the EU and NATO was blatant incitement a show of aggressive nationalism by Putin. That EU / US cowardice ensured the response was directed at an economically weak and politically divided sovereign state in Europe is so regressive that comparisons with European politics in the approaches to Word Wars one and two. Except that the Russian armed forces are massively more powerful now than the Germany military was in ’39 or the German / Austro – Hungarian alliance in 1914.

At the very least this signals a return to cold war hostility and an East-West divide. Those smug twats who talk of Russian isolation overlook China’s abstaining on the UN security council vote to condemn Russia’s support for Crimean independence was not a sign of Russia’s isolation; the Chinese supported Russia. And why should Russia fear the G8 (now G7) Britain, USA and France are in dire economic straits and cannot afford an economic crisis, Italy and Japan are effectively bankrupt and Putin has a pistol to the head of Germany as long as Russia’s hands are on the gas tap.

Suggestions that Russia is trying to acquire territory are equally stupid. Even with many former Soviet nations having severed political ties and now being independent nations, The Russian Federation covers 6M square miles and has barely 140M inhabitants. It does not need more territory. Quite the converse; if some deluded people want to live under the rule of this DINO (democracy-in-name-only), Russia needs them to populate its vast spaces and exploit its vast resources.

Western foreign policy maneuvering works best in the dark, we don’t really get to know what all these NGOs and government agencies have been up to until at least 50 years after the fact, if ever. Putin’s strategy works by calling it out into the open, and its rewarding to see our establishment squirm and try to scuttle like cockroaches away from the light. The media class is so fawning now they are just not used to being called on their BS. So when the leader of a major nation does it things start to unravel pretty quickly.

If you want to fully understand the political thinking behind everything I have said above, just look at a map showing the route Russia’s gas pipelines follow to get into the EU:

You can see at a glance why Russia could never stand back and allow the installation by foreign sponsored coup d’etat of an anti – Russian government in Kiev.

Straw Man Knocks Down Labour’s Argument

November 13, 2013

John Major on elitism in politics last week, David Blunkett on Monday, and now this:

Jack Straw has admitted that opening Britain’s borders to Eastern European migrants was a “spectacular mistake”.

The former Labour Home Secretary said his party’s decision to allow migrants from Poland and Hungary to work in Britain from 2004 was a ‘”well-intentioned policy we messed up”.

It comes a day after David Blunkett, Mr Straw’s successor as Home secretary, warned British cities could face riots as an influx of Roma migrants creates “frictions” with local people.

The last Labour government predicted that only 13,000 would move to Britain from Poland and other eastern European countries after 2004.

However, more than one million arrived in one of the biggest waves of immigration seen in this country.

And now as the Coalition shape up to make the same mistake with Romanian and Bulgrian immigrants (how many times have we told you the political community is owned by The New World Order), we proudly announce The Boggart Blog Bookie is taking bets on who will be the next former cabinet minister to join UKIP.

Brand Plays A Blinder

November 8, 2013

I never thought I’d say this but Russell Brand is playing a blinder. The self proclaimed prolific shagger, official jester to the metrosexual left, quasi – Dickensian cheeky chappie and fan of David Icke has, almost single handedly, made it respectable to dissent from the government line again. He has become a hate figure for both left and right after his outburst against the ineffectual nature of the failed political system, the corporate and scientific hijacking of public debate, government, the legal system, education and the media (the science is never settled guys, not now, not ever, never so shut the fuck up or take your insane cult of Scientism to Crazifornia, the home of post modern idiocy).

Now normally I would rather sup surströmming from a shit shovellers salopette than watch Russell, I don’t think narcissism as comedy is funny, but having pissed off both the left and right simultaneously he must be onto something.

The left are sneering at Brand’s naïveté in wanting to talk about corruption in high places, the unhealthy influence wielded by banks on society and other ‘trivial’ issues instead of understanding that the most important things society has to deal with are gay rights, equality for paedophiles and the scrapping of all immigration controls. The political right are raging that Brand is just another media luvvie playing at being a leftie to get a ride on the politically correct bandwagon.

In fact he is neither, what Russell Brand has been advocating is far more radical, he is talking about real liberalism bordering on anarchy. While the neo Nazis of the Lib Dems, Labour and the Cameronist wing of the Conservatives are talking about authoritarianism disguised with a veneer of political correctness, Brand and conspiracy theorists like David Icke are talking about real genuine individual freedom, the freedom to think for ourselves (and not least the freedom to promote themselves). The kind of freedom that will defend those who oppose uncontrolled immigration against charges of racism, who are against legalising same sex marriage against charges of homophobia (fear of the same thing?) or call for our withdrawal from the EU against accusations of being Little Englanders. A true liberal believes everybody has a right to express their own opinion, rather than just to repeat the opinions approved by the establishment and printed or broadcast by establishment / corporate controlled media.

Though never a fan of fan of the pre – Raphaelite featured comedian I find myself in sympathy with him as he faces hate attacks from all sides. The hate campaign has as always been led by the conformist left whose polemical ravings about Brand’s narcissistic belief that he has the right to speak for the left, yoof, the future, etc., although the traditional right have not been far behind. But Russell Brand has not elected himself, he has been co – opted by default, by the vacuum at the core of British politics. He is speaking for some of the most alienated and disenfranchised groups because, fearful of offending the Politically Correct Thought Police, nobody in the political establishment will step up and speak for them.

In the same way Nigel Farage has become the unofficial and unelected spokesman for the traditional Conservative constituency while George Galloway sometimes acts as the voice of the traditional Labour voter. More mainstream politicians, in their desperation to “engage with minorities” have abandoned the heartlands and are far too ready to dismiss the concerns of white, straight, cultural Christian, middle and working class voters as “bigotry”.

After Brand’s demolition of lefty bully boy Paxman on BBC’s Newsnight, which followed a similar demolition of the cliché spouting presenters of an American political talkshow a few weeks earlier it would be dangerous to assume we have discovered a new political messiah. What Russell Brand has done is expose the intellectually bankruptcy of both left and right, their total inability to propose anything that looks remotely like a solution to our problems (a return to the borrow and spend economics of the past twenty years will only achieve our total enslavement to the Debt Baron Rothschild clan and further austerity will lead to deflation higher unemployment and eventually to more borrowing and our enslavement by the debt barons.

Now someone has stood up and said these things will our political leaders understand they have lost touch with the voters or will they whine wimpishly about how overwhelmingly important it is, compared to trivialities like economics, jobs, ending conflict and shaking off the yoke of the debt barons that we make sure bearded queens in bridal gowns are getting what they want.

The Downfall Of The Working Class

December 15, 2012

Little Nicky is always pissed off when Labour voting neo – fascists accuse him of being a Tory because Little Nicky is and always has been way to the left of these Epsilon semi morons who think there is co contradiction in describing oneself as left wing and then supporting the authoritarian, big government solutions of the Marxist right.

Since the Labour movement in Britain was hijacked by middle class elitists in the 1930s, the party has always been to the right of the conservatives. To understand how I can say this and be right (Little Nicky is always right) you need to be politically and philosophically literate and if you vote Labour you’re not. End of story.)

Sadly the Lib Dems have now joined Labour is an area of the political spectrum that is somewhere between Genghis Khan and Atilla the Hun. There is no left any more, only the right and the oligarchic collectivist right.

Today those who think they are of “the left” are actually voting for their own enslavement, infantilization and the ascendency of a meritocratic elite in which Cameron and Miliband, Balls and Osborne are trough brothers (and Clegg is the class sissy they tolerate because he is useful). The elite want you to be dependent on government because absolute power gives them such a thrill in the groin area. Wake up!

Things are much the same in Obamaland. Here is an article I found on the collapse of the American working class.

?The working class epidemic of demoralization
While coastal elites overindulge, struggling Americans in flyover country feel they have little to live for or believe in
By Matt K. Lewis | December 11, 2012

I’ve written a lot this past year about the struggles of white, working-class communities. But nothing I have written will likely capture the desperation as completely as Anne Hull’s Washington Post column about a struggling young woman named Tabitha Rouzzo.

If you haven’t read it, you should. The column is remarkable, not just because it is interesting and well written, but also because it documents a phenomenon that has gone largely unnoticed and under-appreciated: The crushing burdens and near-impossible struggling of working-class white Americans.

It’s probably natural that this story would speak to me. I’m from rural western Maryland. My dad was a correctional officer. I’m a graduate of a small college in West Virginia. But few of my colleagues have a similar background (and the ones that do would just as soon forget it.) Many of our opinion leaders are, for obvious reasons, disconnected from “flyover” country.

This disconnect between supposed thought leaders and much of the country’s citizenry is problematic.

Good journalism requires investigating such trends and asking questions, such as: When did this slide start, and what is to blame?

As is often the case, the problem likely goes back to cultural changes that began in the 1960s — changes that eventually impacted small-town America.

A recent Vanity Fair article about “the Summer of Love” in San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury neighborhood in 1967 provides some clues:

Nicholas von Hoffman, of The Washington Post, who covered the Haight in a suit and tie, was, he says [by 1967], “appalled” by what he saw….

The overnight change in the attitude toward drugs was what alarmed von Hoffman…

Now, suddenly, he continues, “middle- and working-class kids were doing ‘vice tours,’ like American businessmen in Thailand: coming to the Haight for a few weeks, then, when the dirt between their toes got too encrusted, going home. This was when American blue-collar and middle-class kids became drug users. This was the beginning of the Rust Belt rusting.”

This, I suppose, is an argument for the “no guardrails” theory — a theory that basically says the rich and famous can afford to live a bacchanalian existence, while those who emulate them pay the price.

A lifestyle of addiction, promiscuity, and chaos comes with a hefty price tag. Sadly, our elites are exporting those values to the people least capable of sustaining them. If you don’t believe me, just watch MTV.

Aside from the money in their bank accounts, the spoiled kids featured on My Super Sweet Sixteen aren’t terribly different from those featured in the trailer for MTV’s upcoming reality series Buckwild. The difference, of course, is that the West Virginia kids being glamorized in Buckwild will grow old before their time — if they live long enough to grow old, that is. Most will likely spend the rest of their lives paying for the sins of their youth. The rich kids, on the other hand — well, they will likely land on their feet.

Hull’s column demonstrates how bad moral decisions impacted Tabitha Rouzzo’s family. For example, of Rouzzo’s mom, Hull writes: “In her face and spirit were traces of the cheerleader who got pregnant in the eighth grade… They had two daughters and Tabi on the way when they split.”

Rick Santorum has popularized the notion that being married before having kids — and then staying married — is good for the pocketbook. When we mock social conservatives for their “family values,” we ought to remember the practical reason these values caught on.

Kids growing up in rural communities often face tremendous economic pressures and feel they have little to believe in. Many see little hope for their futures. They seem to lack a purpose in life, and humans need a purpose.

Cities offer their own challenges, of course, but they also have a different energy. They have museums, hustle, and bustle. Cities are where — as Matt Ridley says — “ideas have sex.” Small communities lack this energy. (The Hal Ketchum song “Small Town Saturday Night” notes that you “gotta be bad just to have a good time.”)

Of course, it would be wrong to assume this is all about values. Around the same time Hollywood started importing bohemian values to the heartland, our politicians began shipping jobs overseas — and waves of immigrants began pouring in.

This isn’t new. We are a few generations into this trend, now. But we are close enough to remember the old days and resent what has been stolen from us. As Hall writes, “Tabi heard stories about the olden days. She came from welders and ceramic production workers. But, to Tabi, the sprawling Shenango China factory where her grandfather and great-grandfather worked was just a boarded-up place on the way to Walmart.”

Economies change, and it would be wrong to suggest that we should use the forces of government to prevent this evolution. A free market demands that some businesses fail while others succeed. Towns also fail. Unfortunately, this means people fail. It would also be wrong of us not to acknowledge that there are real-life consequences to this “creative destruction.”

I recently ran across a New York Times story about golfing great Ben Hogan that puts a face on this phenomenon. As The Times notes, Hogan’s father, “a blacksmith put out of work by the spread of the automobile, had committed suicide, shooting himself while 9-year-old Ben looked on in horror.”

One can only imagine this is a fairly common story.

This is a topic that deserves the attention of our political leaders. And perhaps, it finally will get it. There seems to be a strong indication that many working-class whites in the rust belt simply couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Barack Obama or Mitt Romney. There is an opening for a political party to address these populist concerns. Will anyone answer the call?

Landmark climate change report leaked online

Landmark climate change report leaked online

Draft of IPCC’s fifth assessment, due to be published in September 2013, leaked online by climate sceptic Alex Rawls. It’s a safe bet that the content differs widely from what will eventually be published by mainstream media.

Thhttp://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2012/dec/14/ipcc-climate-change-report-leaked-onlinee draft of a major global warming report by the UN’s climate science panel has been leaked online.

The fifth assessment report (AR5) by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which is not due to be published in full until September 2013, was uploaded onto a website called Stop Green Suicide on Thursday and has since been mirrored elsewhere on the internet.

The IPCC, which confirmed the draft is genuine, said in a statement: “The IPCC regrets this unauthorized posting which interferes with the process of assessment and review. We will continue not to comment on the contents of draft reports, as they are works in progress.”

A little-known US-based climate sceptic called Alex Rawls, who had been accepted by the IPCC to be one of the report’s 800 expert reviewers, admitted to leaking the document. In a statement posted online, he sought to justify the leak: “The addition of one single sentence [discussing the influence of cosmic rays on the earth’s climate] demands the release of the whole. That sentence is an astounding bit of honesty, a killing admission that completely undercuts the main premise and the main conclusion of the full report, revealing the fundamental dishonesty of the whole.”

Climate sceptics have heralded the sentence – which they interpret as meaning that cosmic rays could have a greater warming influence on the planet than mankind’s emissions – as “game-changing”.

The isolation by climate sceptics of one sentence in the 14-chapter draft report was described as “completely ridiculous” by one of the report’s lead authors. Prof Steve Sherwood, a director of the Climate Change Research Centre at the University of New South Wales, told ABC Radio in Australia: “You could go and read those paragraphs yourself and the summary of it and see that we conclude exactly the opposite, that this cosmic ray effect that the paragraph is discussing appears to be negligible … It’s a pretty severe case of [cherry-picking], because even the sentence doesn’t say what [climate sceptics] say and certainly if you look at the context, we’re really saying the opposite.”

The leaked draft “summary for policymakers” contains a statement that appears to contradict the climate sceptics’ interpretation.

It says: “There is consistent evidence from observations of a net energy uptake of the earth system due to an imbalance in the energy budget. It is virtually certain that this is caused by human activities, primarily by the increase in CO2 concentrations. There is very high confidence that natural forcing contributes only a small fraction to this imbalance.”

By “virtually certain”, the scientists say they mean they are now 99% sure that man’s emissions are responsible. By comparison, in the IPCC’s last report, published in 2007, the scientists said they had a “very high confidence” – 90% sure – humans were principally responsible for causing the planet to warm.

Richard Betts, a climate scientist at the Met Office Hadley Centre and an AR5 lead author, tweeted that the report is still a draft and could well change: “Worth pointing out that the wording in the leaked IPCC WG1 [working group 1, which examines the “physical science basis” of climate change] draft chapters may still change in the final versions, following review comments.”

Bob Ward, policy and communications director at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment at London School of Economics and Political Science, said that Rawls appeared to have broken the confidentiality agreement signed by reviewers: “As a registered reviewer of the IPCC report, I condemn the decision by a climate change sceptic to violate the confidentiality of the review process. The review of the IPCC report is being carried out in line with the principles of peer review which operate throughout academic science, including an expectation of high standards of ethical behaviour by reviewers. It is disappointing, if not surprising, that climate change sceptics have been unable to meet these high standards of ethical behaviour.”

The IPCC, which publishes a detailed synthesis of the latest climate science every seven years to help guide policy makers, has experienced leaks before. In 2000, the third assessment report was leaked to the New York Times, while the fourth assessment report was published in 2006 by the US government a year ahead of its official publication.

Prof Bill McGuire, Professor of Geophysical & Climate Hazards at University College London and contributing author on the recent IPCC report on climate change and extreme events, said that sceptics’ reading of the draft was incorrect: “Alex Rawls’ interpretation of what IPCC5 says is quite simply wrong. In fact, while temperatures have been ramping up in recent decades, solar activity has been pretty subdued, so any interaction with cosmic rays is clearly having minimal – if any – effects. IPCC AR5 reiterates what we can be absolutely certain of: that contemporary climate change is not a natural process, but the consequence of human activities.”

Prof Piers Forster, Professor of Climate Change at the University of Leeds, said: “Although this may seem like a ‘leak’, the draft IPCC reports are not kept secret and the review process is open. The rationale in not disseminating the findings until the final version is complete, is to try and iron out all the errors and inconsistencies which might be inadvertently included. Personally, I would be happy if the whole IPCC process were even more open and public, and I think we as scientists need to explore how we can best match the development of measured critical arguments with those of the Twitter generation.”

What we may note from the above is how dishonest those who ride the climate change gravy train are prepared to be in defence of the fake science that gives them luxurious lifestyles. Firstly the accusation that Rawls has misinterpreted the report. This really is just the old argument from authority trick, saying in effect, “He’s not a scientists so he cant understand the science. Really however the language is fairly straightforward, it says what it says and there is only so much room for interpretation.

Then there is the claim that ‘temperatures have been ramping up l.ately’. This is a blatant lie, while the ‘adjusted data’ shows eash succeeding year is the ‘hottest on record’ (although even that depends on whose records you look at) raw data shows 1998 was the hottest in the modern era and surface temperatures have not warmed significantly since.

It is possible to go on and on providing hundreds of items of evidence that show climate change (which is a constant and natural process) is not being caused by human activity, but there’s no point. The believers will go on praying to their science God for some Sodom and Gomorrah style even to punish the faithless, the sane will go on living their lives safe in the knowledge that no global catastrophes are imminent and the ruling elites will go on exploiting scaremongering propaganada to justify punitive taxes on energy and other essentials.
